For whom is the private training class?

Private training is ideal for individuals who:

  • Are unavailable during standard group course times. This allows you to take a puppy or obedience course at a more convenient time.
  • Have a dog that, due to health or behavioral reasons, is not suitable for group classes.
  • Want to work on specific goals without attending an entire group course (e.g., off-leash training or training calmness at home).
  • Wish to practice certain skills with their dog at the location where the behavior occurs, such as at home.
  • Have completed a behavioral consultation where follow-up practical sessions were recommended.

Where and when do Private training sessions take place?

The main advantage of private training sessions is flexibility. Together with your private trainer, you can determine the best location for the sessions. This could be, for instance, a quiet area in your neighboorhoud, your garden or the park. Training at your home is, of course, also possible.

Private training sessions are available Monday through Friday until 6:30 PM. We have limited availability on Saturdays.

What can we work on during Private Training Sessions?

Below are examples of goals we regularly address in private training sessions:

  • Recall training
  • Learning to stay home alone (for puppies)
  • No stealing from tables or countertops
  • Leash reactivity (sometimes following behavior therapy)
  • Stopping jumping up (on people)
  • Improving engagement during walks
  • Learning basic commands
  • Managing leash pulling (e.g., out of excitement toward other dogs or people)

Coco, my 1-year-old Weimaraner, and I had private training sessions with Romy. It was amazing how much Coco’s behavior and our relationship improved in just a few sessions. Before the training, he would jump on everyone (both on and off-leash), pull excessively on the leash, and didn’t always come back when I called him. Now, we trust each other again and fully enjoy our walks from start to finish. We also worked on "staying home alone," and all I can say is that he doesn’t even come to say goodbye anymore, haha. Instead, he literally goes to the couch to lie down. Thank you for all your consistency, hard work, kindness, and care!

We just finished another private training session with our second puppy, Molly, and once again, it was both fun and educational. What I really appreciate about private training is that Stephanie can also observe the home situation. Since Molly is our second dog, she gave us great tips on how to handle having two dogs, which allowed us to practice in a familiar environment. Stephanie is a wonderful person—very calm and observant [because sometimes certain exercises, like off-leash walking, might feel more nerve-wracking for the owner than for the dog! :-)]. Our little one has learned some great new commands, though, of course, we’ll need to keep practicing them Thank you again, Stephanie, for your help!

This past summer, I attended private training sessions with my dog. It was a wonderful experience. Stephanie is very professional, patient, and explains everything you need to do in detail while providing excellent tips. In a very short time, my dog Nanette learned to sit, lie down, and walk nicely by my side. I highly recommend the services of OhMyDog! They are excellent. During the final session, Nanette passed a small exam and received a beautiful certificate. She will soon start Level 2, and she can’t wait!

How does Private dog training work?

You’ll discuss the priorities for the sessions, your dog’s temperament, daily routine, and other relevant details. Then, you’ll start actively working with your dog as soon as possible.

Available options:

  • Summarize a course like the Puppy Course or Obedience Course in 4 lessons.
  • Work on customized exercises tailored to you, your dog, and your goals in 1–4 lessons.

Who are the private trainers?

Private training sessions are conducted by Romy, Indre and Stephanie.

The most suitable trainer will be chosen based on expertise and availability.

Will I achieve my goals?

The lessons are relaxed and enjoyable. Progress and results are closely monitored, and any challenges are addressed with appropriate advice.

If your goals cannot be achieved in the short term, we will be honest about it. Our aim is to provide you with as many tools as possible so you can continue training independently.

While you are responsible for applying the management and training advice between sessions, regular guided sessions will provide you with the motivation and structure you need to succeed.
