If your pup is 6 months or older, we would like to welcome you to the Obedience class.

Owners: Our course is suitable for both experienced and inexperienced puppy owners.

Puppy class objectives

The puppy course focuses on five key subjects: customized exercises, socialization & habituation, basic obedience, coaching & guidance and screening.

With the main goal: raising a polite, calm and balanced puppy. A puppy that adapts well to your daily life.

At OhMyDog!, we learned a lot with our puppy Bobbi in a way that was relaxed for both Bobbi and ourselves. There was no rushing through the points of focus, but with genuine interest, Stephanie and her team made a connection with both the dog and the owner, addressing rising questions thoroughly. We have moved on to the Obedience Course and are confident that, thanks to this dog training school, our dog will have a wonderful life with us, built on trust and understanding as the foundation! Every dog deserves to be well understood, and that, in my opinion, is the strength of OhMyDog!

Today we completed the puppy course. We are very satisfied with the lessons. We received many helpful tips. The trainers explain everything clearly and think along about the cause/approach when there is an issue. In other words: a great experience!!

We attended the puppy course at OhMyDog! with Otis, and we found it a great experience. The setting is pleasant (in a wooded area with plenty of parking) and the training was professional. There is room for personal experiences and the opportunity to ask questions. The topics covered are also well suited to the experiences of both the puppy and the owner.

Together with my dog Marley, I attended the puppy course. We still benefit from it every day. The course focuses on very practical applications for issues/problems you may encounter with your dog in daily life. I plan to continue with obedience training because it’s just so enjoyable to spend time working with your dog.

We completed both the puppy course and Obedience Course 1, and both were great. An enthusiastic, involved, and professional team. Thanks to their knowledge and expertise, we’ve seen our puppy grow significantly in terms of obedience. Not only strict obedience, but also a lot of attention to socializing and functioning in the city and with other dogs. There are many great tips for both first-time dog owners and more experienced ones. There was also plenty of space for dogs or owners who needed a little extra attention, without it affecting the rest of the group. Highly recommended!

Lia and Storm (Old German Shepherd)
We attended the puppy course with our puppy Storm (Old German Shepherd). It was close to home and in a beautiful location, working with a small group of puppies. It was great to exchange experiences and, of course, wonderful to have followed the lessons (for both the puppy and the owners). On to the obedience course now. And Stephanie, a big paw from Storm!

Good to know about our puppy class

  • Open enrolment: To cut on waiting time, puppies can enroll every week. Every lesson has a theme, so at the end of the course everyone will have covered all the important topics, regardless of when you started.
  • Focus on a good temperament: The focus is on developing a balanced character, not on obedience. We want everyone to have a dog that fits well into their living situation and will respond calmly to different situations. Additionally, we also practice the first steps of the most important commands.
  • Play together: During our lessons, we don’t have free playtime for the puppies. In the lesson ‘socialization between dogs,’ you will learn more about why we made this choice. In this lesson, we share our knowledge on dog interaction, such as when and how to intervene, when play is fun, and when it can turn into a conflict, etc.

Raising a puppy

If your dog is your first pup, we can imagine that you will be feeling overwhelmed at times. We strongly advise purchasing this book before the puppy comes home, so that you are prepared: Lifeskills for puppies (by Ellen Zulch). It is ethically and scientifically sound, beautifully illustrated, exhaustive and yet nice and short.

To give you some extra advice, we have written the following guides on the key topics:
