Irish wolfhounds and socialization

We like to invite all sorts of people and animals to the class, to show the puppies’ owners how to get the dogs gently acclimated to them. Our socialization guest in May was special: a member of the tallest dog breed in the world. So we invited talented photographer Kitty Keep to capture the moment. 18 May: Irish wolfhound visit

Last Monday, Bruce and his owner, Ger, came to visit.

Throughout the session, we had Tommasso, one of our certified trainers, on security detail. His job was to make sure Bruce wasn’t showing signs of stress or irritation, and that we got him all the space he needed.

As an added bonus, Bruce’s owner has a flourishing beard, so it was a double-socialization bonus for our three puppy classes that night.

Enjoy the pictures!

11 May: warm up photoshoot

Kitty had visited us the week before to take the light and get a feel for the challenges of the shoot. It turned out to be a jungle of leashes, people’s legs and forever moving puppies makes for a tough shoot. But Kitty works with non-directive photography, so she rolled up her sleeves and got down and dirty to get these amazing shots!
